TOT TREND: The Satchel

The satchel has constantly been in the spotlight since autumn 2008 … with launch of Proenza Schouler’s PS1, trickling down to various less expensive permutations by other brands. You’ll see it in every fashion blog and magazine.

This month, the Cambridge satchel did a design collaboration with Comme des Garçons. Looks like a trend that will stay for awhile.

In France where I am based, women prefer their satchel or cartable to look lived-in, weathered, with patina. It comes as no surprise that when the Magic Stroller Bag was launched in a soft, brown leather satchel, it became an instant hit with French mothers.
